Tips for TRANSPORT

Depending on what you are transporting, the chances are that there is no one 'one size fits all' solution for all your transport needs. It may therefore be necessary to use several methods and/or suppliers to fulfil your overall logistics requirement. If too many methods are deployed then things can get a bit messy so consider talking to your existing suppliers to see if they can be a bit more flexible at either end of their ideal shipment criteria.

If you are supplying your transport, it is important that you evaluate the true cost of maintaining this. If it works out that it would be infact more cost effective to sub-contract this provision then this should be given serious consideration.

It should be your clients who are dictating the programme for your deliveries not your upstream processes.
